Evidence-Based Therapy for Men
Feel like you’re not measuring up? Maybe it shows up as stress, frustration, or pulling away from the people who matter. Maybe you keep pushing through, but something inside feels off — shame, fear, self-doubt — like you’re stuck and don’t know how to move forward.
At Berg Counselling, I work with men throughout Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, and Nova Scotia who are carrying more than they let on.
I know what it’s like to look around at your life and quietly wonder, “Is this really it?” You’re not alone in that. As a therapist, I’ve helped many men find steady footing again — with less pressure, more clarity, and a stronger sense of self.
You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to be willing to start.

Please note that rates increased as of September 8, 2025.
All clinical services, including session notes, paperwork, and related tasks, are billed at my hourly rate.
My fee structure is flexible based on financial need. A limited number of reduced-fee spots are available for a set number of sessions. After this, the standard hourly rate applies. Current rates can be discussed during your complimentary 10-minute phone consultation.
Provincial health insurance programs do not cover services provided by Social Workers in private practice. However, most extended health insurance plans reimburse the controlled act of psychotherapy delivered by a Registered Social Worker (RSW). Clients are encouraged to confirm eligibility and coverage directly with their insurance provider.
If you have questions about whether psychotherapy fees qualify as a medical expense, please consult your accountant or the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
Direct billing is available for Green Shield, Sun Life, Medavie Blue Cross, and other insurers that use the Telus Health platform. [Click here] to check if your plan covers services with a Registered Social Worker.
If direct billing is not available, you will receive a receipt to submit for reimbursement. Any portion of fees not covered by insurance may still qualify as a tax-deductible medical expense.
If Berg Counselling provides direct billing, a co-pay may still be required if your insurance plan does not fully cover the session fee. In such cases, the credit card on file will be charged for the remaining balance. The card on file will also be charged for any late cancellations or missed appointments.
Berg Counselling does not accept cash or e-transfers for payment.

I am trained in evidence-based practices and work from the third wave of cognitive behavioural therapies, specifically Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Unified Protocol. I also work through an attachment lens, paying close attention to how early relationship patterns may shape your connection, coping, and response to stress. In addition, when working with men who are primarily seeking therapy for porn and sex addiction, I use Dr. Patrick Carnes’ 30 Tasks of Recovery Model, a structured framework for building lasting change.
For the treatment of PTSD, exposure is a strongly supported evidence-based treatment, and this is the focus of my approach.

What you share in therapy is kept confidential, and I will not disclose information without your consent unless legally required to do so (such as risk of harm, child abuse, or a court order).
As part of my commitment to providing the best possible care, I sometimes participate in professional supervision. This means I may discuss aspects of your case, with a qualified supervisor. These conversations are held in strict confidence and follow all professional and legal guidelines to protect your privacy. Supervision helps ensure that you receive thoughtful, ethical, and effective support.

Online therapy can offer several practical benefits. It makes accessing therapy easier, no matter where you live, which is especially helpful if you're in a remote area or have trouble with mobility. You can also schedule sessions more flexibly, fitting them into your busy life without much hassle. Online therapy can save you money since you won't have travel expenses. Plus, being in the comfort of your own home (or car for that matter!) might help you feel more at ease, making it easier to open up.
